Upon graduation, applied behavior analysis majors will have satisfied all knowledge and experience requirements necessary for eligibility to take the Behavior Analysis Certification Board^® (BACB^®) BCaBA (Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst) exam.

The Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) is an undergraduate-level certification in behavior analysis. Professionals certified at the BCaBA level provide behavior-analytic services under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst^® (BCBA^®) and may supervise the work of Registered Behavior Technicians^® (RBTs^®).

Beyond the classroom, students can build leadership and professional experience through participation in the Student Government Association, intramural and collegiate sports and over 200 other student organizations.

Of special interest to ABA majors, BASA, the Behavior Analysis Student Association, brings together a community of students interested in behavior analysis to discuss both experimental and applied topics within the field. It’s a great organization for professional development opportunities and networking with peers and professionals in the field.

Internships build your fluency in behavior analysis concepts and their application while you gain hands-on experience. A field internship is included in the degree program, and students often seek additional internship opportunities.

Research continually advances the field of behavior analysis, and it’s an essential component of the ABA degree program.

You’ll study research concepts and methods early on in your program and put your knowledge into practice as you conduct a research project in conjunction with your senior year field internship.

Scott Center for Autism Treatment faculty members regularly seek out Florida Tech students to aid in the center’s research—a perfect way to engage in behavior analysis training while participating in faculty-led research.

Additional affiliated institutes and centers serve as focal points for ongoing research in areas such as animal cognition, organizational effectiveness and memory disorders.

Looking ahead to your ABA career can be exciting! Keep in mind that certain roles may entail additional prerequisites.

You may need a license to practice as an assistant behavior analyst, depending on your location. Florida Tech ABA programs are designed to meet BACB credential requirements, which many states require or accept toward licensure. As an applied behavior analysis student, you will have the special opportunity to work in the Scott Center for Autism Treatment, Florida Tech’s autism research center.

Located right on campus, the Scott Center is dedicated to improving the quality of life of children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and related disabilities in Central Florida.

Here, you will be given the chance to work alongside staff as they provide ABA-based treatment to children with autism.

Through this meaningful work, you will reinforce what you've learned, build experience and establish important relationships with professionals already working in the field—excellent references for future work opportunities.

The Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) is an undergraduate-level certification in behavior analysis.
